“This Week’s Learning Spotlight” – Water Safety

The theme for this week’s mentor time and assembly will be Water Safety, which is particularly important as we head into the summer holidays and warmer weather.

Pupils will explore key messages around staying safe near open water, the coast, rivers, lakes and swimming pools. The session will highlight:

• The dangers of cold water shock
• How to spot unsafe swimming areas
• What to do in an emergency
• Safe behaviour when spending time near water with friends
• How to access help and guidance from trusted organisations

The aim is to ensure pupils understand how to enjoy the summer safely, make sensible choices, and know what to do if they or someone else gets into difficulty.
