PE (Physical Education) at Park View

At Park View School, we want every child to enjoy being active and to develop healthy habits that will support them throughout their lives. Our PE curriculum is designed to help pupils build confidence, learn new skills and discover activities they can enjoy both in and out of school.

What PE Looks Like

  • Every pupil takes part in 2 hours of PE each week.
  • Lessons are taught by specialist staff who make activities fun, engaging and accessible for all pupils.
  • Pupils experience a wide range of sports and activities, including:
    • football, basketball and hockey
    • badminton, table tennis and other net games
    • gymnastics and fitness
    • striking and fielding games such as cricket and rounders
    • athletics and cycling

Our aim is for pupils to enjoy being active, feel proud of their progress and develop important life skills such as teamwork, resilience, fairness and respect.

How PE Supports Your Child

Through PE, pupils learn to:

  • develop coordination, balance and agility
  • build confidence in their physical abilities
  • understand the importance of exercise and a healthy lifestyle
  • work well with others and show good sporting attitudes
  • take part in friendly competition in a safe and supportive environment

Opportunities Beyond Lessons

We offer:

  • daily physical activity at break and lunchtime
  • after‑school sports clubs
  • competitions with other local schools through the Wanderers Sports Association

These opportunities help pupils stay active, make friends and feel part of the wider school community.

PE in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4

  • Key Stage 3: Pupils develop core movement skills and take part in a variety of team and individual sports.
  • Key Stage 4: Pupils build on these skills, take part in more advanced activities and learn how to evaluate their own performance. They also have opportunities to act as role models and leaders.

Supporting Health and Wellbeing

PE links closely with pupils’ physical and mental wellbeing. Some pupils receive extra support to build fitness and confidence, and we encourage all learners to explore local sports clubs if they want to continue activities outside school.
